Andy Wood goes Three for Three.
Fallbrook Californias Little fast guy Andy Wood
had
a perfect day scoring three main event wins at the Wheel to Wheel
Raceway
in Victorville Ca. Race promoter and club president Bruce Sanford was
please
to announce his pre entry list of over 85 riders. It seems things are
going
very well for the new track and it recent decision to cater the
Southern
California Flattrack Racing Association and its members. Modesto’s
Jimmy
Felice and son Justin showed up to ride the fast little bank shorttrack
and had nothing but good things to say, and said they couldn’t wait for
the next race January 5th. After some quick track prep things got
underway.
In the youth class 50cc first timer Ryan Surratt beat Larry Smith and
Andre
Ochs to the finish line. Kevin Lizard held on to maintain the victory
in
the 65cc youth class, with larry Smith and Joey St. Lewis tangling with
one another coming off of turn four with St. Lewis going down but, he
up
quick and finished third. Andy Wood was fast all day with a great
holeshot
in the 85cc youth class and winning over Devon Booher. Woods second
main
event win came in the xr100 youth class over Kevin Knudsen and Otiis
Baugh.
Team Kawasaki road racing employee Kenny Hunter won the xr100 mens
class
over school teacher Brad Rudy and Scott Thurlow. Hunter also travels
with
Team Kawasaki and maintains the bikes Eric Bostrom, Tommy Hayden and
Tony
Meiring race. It’s always great when Kenny can find the time to come
race
with us. Once again Andy Wood checked out in the 125 novice class, and
took the victory in winning his third main event of the day. Ametuer
250
class was won by Andy’s big brother Alex Wood. Joe Steffen won the
bomber
class with Dave Johnson and Tom Horton following respectfully. Friction
was so thick you could have cut it with a knife in the Classic Vintage
class as Apple brothers Chris and Jeff battled it out for top honors
with
Jeff making a last lap pass over brother Chris after Chris bobbled
coming
off of two. Mule motorcycle owner Richard Pollack had to earn his keep
getting around Dennis Voll to win the senior class. In the big money
open
pro class with great anticipation of a great race developing between
Justin
Felice and track favorite Jimmy Wood never happened do to Felice not
getting
the kinda start he probably wanted. Justin and Richard Pollack battled
it out for over 6 laps which gave Wood the time he needed to check out.
Joe Steffen finished second with Pollack third. Ian Faulds came back to
finish second only to Alex Wood after a earlier crash in the day in the
open amateur class. Open novice went to Dan Lizard with Mike Mosby and
Carl Shockley second and third.
