Dan Rouit hosted his seventh
annual
open house on Sunday May 18th. The event was very will attended as many
fans and racers stayed in the area after Saturday nights AHRMA flat
track
race at Hanford. Besides the display of over twenty five restored flat
trackers in the museum, many interesting bikes were shown by
other
enthusiasts. Ray Abrams showed one of the
Champion
framed, four cylinder Yamaha's which was ridden by Kenny Roberts. Marsh
Runyon brought one of his Harley racers and a nice Triumph. A display
of
running stationary engines reminded many of much simpler times. A good
selection of Midget dirt cars and race Karts also graced the lawn in
front
of the only exclusive flat track museum in the
country.
A 1911 Indian 500cc board tracker is the oldest bike on display. Other
makes represented include Triumph, BSA, Yamaha, Honda, Bultaco
and
Montesa. Frames manufactured by Trackmaster, Champion and C&J
are shown. Milwaukee V-twin racers include KX's and a 1977 XR 750. The
walls lined with racing posters and a large bookcase full of old
programs
held the attention of the festive crowd. Memorabilia of dirt racers
abound,
including a rack of old leathers. Barbecue and beverages were enjoyed
by
many, who will surely made plans to attend again next year.
