SCFTA held their 3rd annual awards picnic on January 14th,
at Kit Carson Park in Escondido.

Over 100 people attended
our
3rd annual picnic & awards event. The picnic started off with the
food,
serving carne asada, chicken and hot links. Awards followed with
recognition
to the riders for their season performance. First place racers received
jackets, 2nd place a deluxe helmet bag, and third place received
gloves.
The top rider of the year, Keith Bradford, received a ‘Jamey Blunt’ Hot
Shoe Mug. Other riders receiving ‘Hot Shoe’ awards were Jimmy Wood,
Jr.,
most improved rider and high- point rider in a class Vince Graves.
Steve
Shadley also received a Mug for his work at the races and additional
track
work. Receiving Association jackets for volunteering this past
season,
were Lee Graves, Cindy and Lisa Steffen, score keeping and sign-up,
starter
Tom Bohler, and Paul Tomilson, for working wherever he was needed.
Also,
a big thank you for those of you who mailed your membership early, and
for the cash donations at the picnic. Without the Del Mar Race, our
funds
would have been very low this past season, so your contributions really
made our picnic possible. Also, for those of you who brought food to
share,
we all thank you. We also thank, with much appreciation, all the
companies
and people donating prizes for our raffle. Lemon Grove Motorcycles,
Progressive
Suspension Products, Skip Van Leewen, Roger Thompson, Jim Woods at
Chaparral,
Jamey Blunt, and anyone else I might have inadvertently missed. The big
raffle winners were Cecil Oswald, winning the pair of shocks, Larry
Langley
winning a Flat track tire and helmet, and Sidney Oswald winning a flat
track tire. I want to let all of you know the beautiful glass etched
plaque
given to me, for my participation in this wonderful organization, has a
special place in my home and heart. And dinner included at one of San
Diego’s
finest restaurant, you guys are spoiling me, but thank you so much. Bruce
