Southern California Flat Track Association
April 2004 Newsletter

Our next race is May 23 Sunday, gates open at 8:00am
It seems like every rain we have two things happen, great weather and great track,
but we always get low rider turn out for the races. This was no different. With 60 riders and total 80 entrees
we lost $400. There got to be a change! We had to raise prices $5 per entry. With a high insurance cost of $1,175,
the cost is $19.50 per rider. Also we have to step up and pay insurance two weeks in advance.
This is where your association money goes to help put on races.
We have a great deal with Freddie Edwards and the Perris facility on racetrack agreement,
otherwise we could not continue. New equipment and track preparation techniques are constantly
improving the track for the riders. Wait till we start racing at night!
I think the May race and after we will do fine in rider turnout.
We need rider support to join SCFTA, and buy out SCFTA t-shirts,
even if a year out dated, so we can make new ones.
Some great SCFTA members are really helping out, donating $200 each. James Kohls on kids’ trophies,
Mike Ochs on starting light and scoring tent and Rubin Malaguarnero on any equipment
we might need. Great going guys!
The Perris track offers good food, racing fuel, photos and number plates for sale on race days.
The two riders were hurt on the last race; Dick Fox later rode the main, Elliott Iverson could not
continue with a mild concussion and broken toe. Wimp.
Great racing went on in the XR100 class between Don Fraunberger and Vince Graves,
banging handlebars and running over each other. The other race of the day was the
Expert/Pro main between Richard Pollock and Jeff Johnson.
Little Devin Booher is also hauling on his new mount, a CRF250 Honda.
Tell your dirt track friends we have a new home!

Next Race is May 23, Sunday –gates open 8:00 am
